IPsec Tunnels

Created by Kelly Evans, Modified on Wed, 4 Jun at 7:19 AM by Kelly Evans

This network connectivity option uses the customer’s existing internet circuits and firewalls. The IPsec tunnels to the 46 Labs datacenters are usually terminated directly on the customer’s firewall or VPN concentrator.

Pros

  • a very cost-effective network connectivity option.

  • media flow-around design (no customer SBC) can often be achieved.

  • QOS markings can be maintained for SIP and RTP packets inside the IPsec tunnels.

Cons

  • No QOS for IPsec packets transiting the public internet.

  • Customer is responsible for the configuration and operation of their firewall or VPN concentrator.
